Dear Diary,
For today classes, I have being teach by Sir Akmal Hisham Abdul Rahim. He begin his classes by using a slide. The topic was about "Goal Setting and Management System". It will be our last topic and our last UED102 class subject for RB1B group.
The things that I learned from this topic was:
Goal: The object of a person's ambition or effort/ an aim or desire result.
GOAL= SMART
- S: specific
We need to be specific in what we want to be.
- M: measurable
Make sure that our goal is suitable with our ability.
- A: achievable
Make sure that we can really have the ability to achieve our goal.
- R: realistic
Our goal need to be realistic so that we are not wasting our time with unachievable goal like "I want to be a cat"
- T: time based
We should know what time we want to achieve our goals. For example " I want to graduate on time in diploma when I am 22 years old.
GOAL =
Self chosen: The things that we really want without any other people thought.
Moderately challenging: That goal should not much challenging for us to achieve.
Realistic: That goal is suitable for our ability
Measurable: We can measure our progress to achieve the goal.
Specific: The goal should be specific enough so that we know what to do.
Finite (having limit or boundary): As a muslim, make sure that our
goals are not pass the border that have be list in Al-Quran & As-Sunnah.
Positive: Our goal should have positive effect to ourselves and other people.
1) Characteristic of goals:
- Goals are the ends toward which direct our effort.
- It will help motivate ourselves.
- we can improve our academic performance.
- Even though we already may have set some goals before in our life, the chances are we thought little about these goal were realistic.
2) Academic and personal goals:
It is better to balanced both goals to make sure that we become a successful person in the future. We should focusing academic goals in our students life because it will affected our personal goal like we want to be a doctor for our personal goal, and at the same time we should work harder on study maybe in sciences course (academic goal) to make sure that we can accomplish our goal.
3) Writing effective goal statement:
Step 1
What is your goal: I want to graduate on time.
Step 2
What obstacles prevent you from achieving your goal:
Lazy, bad friends, not good in English subject.
Step 3
How to overcome obstacles:
Do some list about our goal so that it can help to motivate ourselves. Next, we need to find a new friends that can help us with our studies. Lastly, we can meet with the lecturer to learn more about English subject.
